Southern CDC’s mission is to provide quality affordable housing to low-income individuals and families and to develop commercial real estate in a manner that improves local economies and creates jobs. Southern CDC has developed, built, and managed a variety of multi-family and single family low-income rental property as well as mixed use commercial property in its 15 year history. Southern CDC coordinates its activities with the comprehensive development initiatives of Southern Bancorp and its affiliates, of which Southern CDC is one. (See Our Family for more information.)

Founded in 1988, Southern CDC has a wealth of experience and community relationships that help us to achieve this mission.  We also work closely with the Southern Bancorp family of community banks and nonprofit affiliates to support comprehensive community and economic development in targeted communities in rural Arkansas and the Mississippi Delta. By building high-quality, affordable housing, Southern CDC is helping build the foundation for a healthy and prosperous future for rural communities.

Southern CDC is a 501(c)(3) affiliate of Southern Bancorp and is also recognized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Arkansas Development Finance Authority as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).
